Sustainable packaging refers to packaging solutions that aim to reduce their environmental impact.

The goal of sustainable packaging is to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability throughout the supply chain.

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS IN OUR PACKAGING.

In sustainable packaging, several materials are considered recyclable and are chosen to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
Here are some of the most commonly used recyclable materials:

Paper

Paper is one of the most commonly recycled materials and can be made into new products.
Along with cardboard, it is used for environmentally friendly packaging and often comes from sustainably managed sources, such as FSC- or PEFC-certified forests.

PLASTIC

Some types of plastics are more easily recycled than others.
Among the most commonly recycled materials are PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene).
Sustainable packaging aims to employ these recyclable plastics or incorporate post-consumer recycled plastics into new packaging.

Metals

Aluminium is a fully recyclable material and widely used in sustainable packaging, especially for pouchs, covers and other containers.

Composite Materials

There is packaging made from combinations of materials (e.g. paper laminated with plastic film). These may be more difficult to recycle, but there are innovations underway to improve their recyclability or compostability.

It is important to note that the recyclability of a material may depend heavily on the local recycling infrastructure available.
Some materials may be technically recyclable but not accepted into local recycling programs due to limitations in the collection, separation or reprocessing process.
To have a truly sustainable approach, it is important to consider not only the recyclability of the material, but also the capacity of the local system to handle that material.
